What may be a hitherto unknown portrait of Leonardo da Vinci in middle age shows that the Renaissance genius had piercing blue eyes, a long nose and long greying hair with a droopy moustache. The damaged oil-on-panel portrait was discovered by Nicola Barbatelli, a medieval historian, while he was researching the archive and picture collection of an aristocratic family at Acerenza (population 3,000), an ancient village perched on a rock above the river Bradano near Potenza in the southern Italian region of Basilicata. Leonardo da Vinci portrait ‘discovered’ (Daily Telegraph)- About: leonardo da vinci, leonardo da vinci paintings

The oil painting was discovered by Nicola Barbatelli, a medieval historian, while he was studying the picture collection of a family in Acerenza in southern Italy. While it was previously thought to portray the astronomer Galileo Galilei, Mr Barbatelli claims that the picture represents the Renaissance genius in middle age. While the authenticity of the picture is yet to be confirmed by experts, da Vinci is believed to have visited the region. The Acerenza portrait also resembles a figure in Raphael’s School of Athens in the Vatican which is also thought to represent da Vinci. Alessandro Vezzosi, the director of the Museo Ideale Leonardo da Vinci, has said that a preliminary examination of the Acerenza painting showed it was a Renaissance-era original and not a copy.

During the design and construction of Tower II, Jonathan Lipman, who serves as both institute director and chief architect of Fortune-Creating Building, vetted KGD’s blueprints and materials. To provide “cosmic harmony and support to the individual,” the maharishi decreed, a Vedic building must be oriented perfectly to the cardinal directions, with an easterly entrance to face the dawn; be constructed according to “precise mathematical dimensions in harmony with the cosmos” and “proportionally designed to mirror the geometry or architecture of the universe”; contain a core of silence called a Brahmanstan; and have each room “carefully placed to resonate with the different energies of the sun as it moves across the sky.
