leonardo da vinci, leonardo da vinci paintings - Like it or Not, The Cloud is Here to Stay and Red Hat’s Jumping In (LinuxPlanet)

The potential impact on the ability of users, developers and IT departments to consume cloud services via a common set of tools is, according to Brian Stevens, Red Hat’s CTO, “epic. Plenty of arguments are made against the concept, like “It was done in the ’60s with a different name and we’ve moved on,” or “It’s just the ASP model all over again, ” or “It’s not secure. Anyone relying on Google’s cloud-based email solution was left stranded and unable to do anything about the lack of service, totally reliant on Google engineers to identify the problem and get it sorted sharpish. And that’s going to present a wagon load of opportunities and threats for anyone who makes enterprise operating systems, of both the server and desktop variety.

(leonardo da vinci, leonardo da vinci paintings) Suspected Mafia hit man arrested on immigration warrant (National Post)

The feud between the Costa and Commisso families stretched from the seaside town of Siderno, above, to a suburb north of Toronto. At the heart of the vendetta was the clashing ambition of two mob clans in Siderno and the unforgiving tradition of the faida — an institutionalized form of family feud in traditional Calabrian culture where spilled blood demands blood be spilled in return. After the Costa family returned from Canada to Siderno some of the criminally active sons chafed at the constraints of working in the shadow of the town’s mob boss, a Commisso. Rumbo, however, was arrested in Siderno and in 1996 was sentenced to 30 years in prison by an Italian court for the Toronto shooting after three Canadian police officers testified in Italy. Davide Gattuso was described by Italian prosecutors as “a close associate of all the members of the crime group, actively involved in drug trafficking and the possession of firearms. The feud between the Commissos and the Costas has since been settled after a provincial board overseeing the various Calabrian Mafia clans was established — with the help of respected mobsters in Canada who are Siderno expatriates, sources said.

Sidewalk Picasso brings depth to his work (Louisville Courier-Journal)- Topic: leonardo da vinci, leonardo da vinci paintings

On Wednesday morning, the British sidewalk artist was placing sandbags at the edge of a tent to protect against rain and runoff, as he began a four-day project to transform a stretch of sidewalk into a 3-D optical illusion. Over the next few days, a flat, 20-foot by 10-foot section of concrete in front of the Kentucky Center on Main Street will become a chalk painting of a bridge over two stone tunnels with balloons rising and morphing into a real-life planter with shockingly convincing depth when seen from the right angle. Talking on Wednesday as he unpacked a battered backpack full of pastel chalk, rope and his camera, he said that he first got into chalk drawing after he graduated from art school in London and was working as a street performer, doing magic and puppet shows. Beever submitted a handful of suggested drawings to the Idea Festival, including an icy crevasse in Antarctica, a shallow seascape and the Statue of Liberty breaking out of the pavement. On Wednesday, he first laid out rope to help him adjust the tunnels to the right perspective, checking them from a camera on a tripod. But the rain in Louisville complicated his task, first causing him to scout new locations and then settling on the original one with the aid of a tent and sandbags.

Mind Mapping would have spared us this fine mess (BusinessDay)- leonardo da vinci, leonardo da vinci paintings

This âguru of grey matterâ and award-winning poet recently arrived in Johannesburg fresh from the International Conference on Thinking in Malaysia, for a week of furious activity that would exhaust someone half his age, talking at universities, schools, businesses and launching a new book, Age- Proof Your Brain. Weâve lived through the Agricultural Age and Industrial Age, and are now in the Information Age, âalthough recently information workers have been elevated to knowledge workers,â says Buzan in his beautifully enunciated English, delivered with a twist of dry humour. He lays this at the feet of business leaders, who he says were primarily taught at business schools about making short-term profits, how to satisfy the short- term âneedsâ of their shareholders, how to make money fast and, inter alia, some marketing and basic management skills. Buzan, who has been described by The Times as âdoing for the brain what Stephen Hawking did for the universeâ, says that we use less than 1% of our brains, and that the number of patterns of thought possible for them is greater than the number of atoms in our galaxy and its 200-billion stars. Itâs a wonderful prospect â” weâll have a population of older, wiser geniuses because weâll have escaped from the Industrial and Information Ages into the Age of Intelligence, where we will all live a lot more happily and therefore a lot longer. Once theyâve learnt how to study, to read faster, communicate better and understood the workings of their brains, then they can be let loose on physics and geography and they will take only a quarter of the time they usually do to learn.
