leonardo da vinci, leonardo da vinci paintings - The da Vinci clue (San Diego Union-Tribune)

The Digital Clinical Chart project treats artworks a bit like medical patients, gathering together all of the known history of a painting, then exposing the artwork to various diagnostic tools and procedures, from extreme high-resolution photography and scanning technologies like infrared, ultraviolet and X-ray to 3-D laser modeling. During the remodeling of the hall in 1563, the architect and painter Giorgio Vasari covered the walls with frescoes of military victories by the Medicis, who had returned to power. The goal is to locate the sulfur in Leonardo’s ground layer, the tin in the white prime layer and the chemicals in the color pigments, like the mercury in vermilion and the copper in blue pigments of azurite. So when he saw the new mayor dashing across the Hall of 500 that July afternoon, Seracini rushed at the chance for a personal appeal to Renzi, who had been a fan of the project before his election.

Leonardo da Vinci masterpiece hidden in Italian palace fresco? (New Kerala)- About: leonardo da vinci, leonardo da vinci paintings

University professor Maurizio Seracini alleges a clue in a huge artwork in Florence’’s historic Palazzo Vecchio appeared to suggest that The Battle of Anghiari, painted by Leonardo in 1503, his largest ever work, lied beneath. There is no evidence to hint that it is not there any more,” the Telegraph quoted Prof Seracini as saying. It represented the highest achievements in art reached at the time, during the early Renaissance,” he added. The expert has finally been given the permission to use state-of-the-art equipment to determine if the artwork, believed to be three times the size of Leonardo’s Last Supper, was painted over with the fresco. But if there really is a work by Leonardo, it would be of huge importance to the whole world.

leonardo da vinci, leonardo da vinci paintings - Leonardo da Vinci fingerprint reveals $150 million artwork (San Jose Mercury News)

Peter Paul Biro, a Montreal-based forensic art expert, said Tuesday that a fingerprint on what was presumed to be a 19th-century German painting of a young woman has convinced art experts that it’s actually a da Vinci. The unsigned chalk, ink and pencil drawing, known as “La Bella Principessa,” was matched to Leonardo via a technique more suited to a crime lab than an art studio — a fingerprint and palm print found on the 13½-inch-by-10-inch work. The discovery of the fingerprint has them convinced the work was by Leonardo, whose myth and mystery has already put him in such best-sellers as “The Da Vinci Code” and “The Lost Symbol. Alessandro Vezzosi, director of a museum dedicated to Leonardo in the artist’s hometown of Vinci, Italy, said Wednesday that he was “very happy” to hear about the fingerprint analysis, saying it confirmed his own conclusion that the portrait can be attributed to Leonardo with “reasonable certainty.
